Word of the day: folderol
Poets United prompt: diamond
all the folderol and fluff
nothing but a bunch of stuff
not even diamonds in the rough
when troubles come and come they do
importance changes nothing new
and stuff’s the first to go it’s true
how intentional life would be if we
could keep that focused way to see
and furnish heart rooms simply
very well put.
Folderol and fluff, eh? Haven’t heard the word folderol in AGES! Makes me think! Surprising poem, and that’s a good thing!
I love the last line too….nice read..bkm
thank you all and Paschal – I LOVED the video. Years ago Dale and I built a 24 x 24 garage that we finished off and lived in for several years with plans to add a house later. We ended up selling and lived in an rv on pipeline for awhile but it was a great experience. I don’t think I would have tried with children though…
Love the “with plans to add a house later.”
The last line is fantastic. i love the reflective flow of this poem.
very nice poem.
Thanks Mory!
I really liked the poem and will have to admit I googled the word folderol. I had an idea of what it meant but do not think I have ever heard it. Thank you for the forced lesson lol. At the risk of sounding repetative I too enjoyed how the last lined closed out your poem. Thank you for sharing.
Glad on both counts Robert. I am on an email list from Wordsmith.org and folderol was the word of the day – I had the urge to pin my hair up in a tight bun and shake my finger and repeat over and over “No folderol! No folderol!”
Dee-This rocks! The rhythm and end rhyme come so naturally, it’s got a child’s poem quality that shines up through your words. I love it!!!
Thank you Brenda – I wanted the quality to be simple 🙂
Such a beautiful poem full of truth! 🙂
