there is a palpable moment
when the dark holds on by fingertips
then lets go with a sigh
velvet gives way
to cotton on the line
and every living thing
uncurls and shakes off sleep
birds sing the dawn devotion
and I hold my breath
waiting for the finale
of sunlight
So good to see you back, Dee.
I know, you’ve been back for a while, but the truth is, I’ve been following for a while, too, reading every word. Seems to be taking some time to find my commenting voice again, though.
Sure loved that bit about velvet giving way to cotton on the line; and that’s how I feel, too, holding my breath for the finale of sunset. Lovely voice; good to hear it again.
Thank you Anno – I don’t know that I am back, but I’m moving. Good to hear from you.
